This Hollywood Hill of Nice plays host to an array of stars, from Elton John to Sean Connery. It is not just multi-million mansions, there are plenty of apartments with sun-drenched terraces and jaw-dropping sea views.

The hill of Mont Boron offers some of the most spectacular views Nice has to offer. Towering over the port of Nice, it is the gateway to Villefranche and a short hop from there to Monaco. This exclusive residential neighbourhood offers quiet and privacy. Surrounded by movie-proportioned villas, and gazing over the sea at stunning sunsets, it really appears to be a spot in paradise.

This isolation on the hill comes at the expense of amenities. There is little in the way of cafes or restaurants, and did not even have a single supermarket until one opened recently. Public transport links are poor, and though the local estate agencies will claim it is a five minute walk into town (via some steps they point towards and you cannot quite see but assume are there) realistically it is a half hour with a rather steep walk back up.

It is the perfect location for the more mature buyer that intends to spend their sunset years watching some pretty incredible sunsets. The more active who intend to spend their days exploring the city and eating out in the evenings are better off being more central, for instance the Musicians Quarter.

Prices start around €350,000, and the sky is the limit. Many advertised properties listed as “Mont Boron” are actually Mont Alban, which is quite far from the centre and lack the same views. In this sector, view is more important than the road in which it is located.
